MELOSA HOVAWART BLACK & TAN ARRIVED 12/22/12 @ 55 LBS @ TWO-YEARS-OLD FEMALE Melosa is a gorgeous and timid dog that has been running at large in the town of Schuyler Falls for three months. She was finally live trapped by the dog control officer and was brought to Elmore SPCA. Melosa is spanish for "sweet and gentle" and that is exactly what Melosa is. She is a hovawart which is a german dog breed that means "estate guard dog". She is gentle and slow moving, but she is not used to being inside and seems to enjoy being outside. She does not like to be enclosed in a room, especially alone, and will try to "get out" by any means necessary. Melosa is timid around people at first, especially men, but she warms up after a while. She will need a home where she can be outside or with her people. Melosa does like to run, so she will need to have some sort of containment. She loves to go for walks and is very good on a leash. She sits and comes when called. She gets along with cats and seems to love lounging on the couch, or under the desk, in the office. Melosa is current on vaccinations, is spayed and has tested negative for heart worm. Melosa will make a wonderful companion to a hiker or someone who likes to be outdoors and someone who has patience and lots of love to offer.
